8-year-old dies days after being found floating in Limestone County community pool

ATHENS — An 8-year-old child pulled from a community swimming pool Wednesday has died, according to his obituary released by Limestone Chapel Funeral Home.
Son Thai Phan died Friday at Huntsville Women’s and Children’s Hospital, according to the obituary.
He had been airlifted to the hospital Wednesday night after a couple pulled him from the community pool at Legacy Grove subdivision, according to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office.
The boy, who was wearing a mask and snorkel, was seen floating at the pool by a couple, who realized something was wrong when the top of the snorkel went under the water, and they pulled the boy from the pool. The woman, an ER nurse, began CPR and continued the process until EMTs arrived, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Services will be noon Sunday at Limestone Chapel.
