Boney's 1st Wife, Mona Kapoor Revealed How Her Husband Left Her And Their Children For Sridevi

It isn’t a secret that Sridevi had an affair with the much-married Boney Kapoor and she also got pregnant before marriage. Back in those days, she was accused of being a ‘home-breaker’.


So the story goes, Sridevi became friends with Mona Kapoor (Boney’s first wife). She was staying at Mona and Boney’s house and used to consider Boney as her brother (when Mithun and Sridevi were together, Mithun made Sridevi tie a rakhi to Boney). It was then that the affair started and she was soon pregnant with Boney’s child. When Mona came to know about it, she was devastated!

Soon, the news of Sridevi’s pregnancy spread like fire and she was accused of breaking a happy family. In 1996, Sridevi and Boney had a simple temple wedding. Boney left his first wife, Mona and kids, Arjun and Anshula..

All said and done, Sridevi and Boney have been enjoying marital bliss for more than two decades now and are one of the power couples of Bollywood. They also have two daughters, Jhanvi and Khushi. Well, we got our hands on a few old interviews by Sridevi and Mona, which made headlines back then.

The shattered Mona, in one of her interviews said:

"He (Boney) was 10 years older to me. I was 19 when I married him. So I literally grew up with him. Ours was a 13-year-old marriage. So it came as a shock when I realised that my husband was in love with somebody else... There was nothing left in the relationship to give it a chance because Sridevi was already with a child."

Sridevi was seen as the other woman and a home-breaker back then and according to a controversial story published in Stardust in 1997, the south beauty was very insecure about her marriage. One of the quotes from that story read:

"It rankles her no end that Mona is still Boney's legally wedded wife, while she herself continues to remain his mistress, a temple wedding notwithstanding."

It also stated that there was this one incident where Boney met his first wife Mona and took his children, Arjun and Anshula out on a picnic. This made Sridevi so angry that she started abusing Boney. A neighbour heard the yelling. Sridevi was shouting:

“You b-, you @!#*!#!. How can you do this to me? If you love your kids and wife so much then why don't you shift back into that house again? You cheat, you liar..."

The neighbour also added:

"She should understand that Boney is quite attached to his kids and that there is nothing wrong if he meets them or takes them out for a picnic. After all, he is their father".

However, another defended Sridevi and said:

"Boney should understand Sri's frame of mind. He should understand her insecurities and all that she is going through because of her illegitimate status of their marriage."

After what Sridevi did to Mona and her children, Mona’s mother, Sattee Shourie had a public showdown with the actress. Sattee not only abused the diva verbally but also tried to physically abuse her! Mona’s outrage towards her husband’s second wife was quite visible in her interviews.



After all the tamasha, Sridevi put a ban on Boney to meet his first family! He was asked to cut off all the ties from Mona, Arjun and Anshula. This is a major reason that Arjun has no relationship with his step-mother and half-sisters. In one of his interviews, Arjun said:

"My relationship with Sridevi would never be normal. She is just my father's wife and nothing beyond that."

Although he doesn’t hold any grudges against his father’s other family, but he still has all the bitterness left in him for Sridevi and her daughters.



Amid all this, what surprised us was an old interview of Sridevi, much before she met Boney. In that interview, Sridevi had said something very strange. She said:

"I wouldn't know how important the emotion love is to the kids of today. Love for me is not just saying 'I love you' neither is it a physical attraction. Love does exist.”
